Reliving Ruthie's Death, but Differently

Ruthie died with dignity.
That action was the last and greatest gift she gave me in this world.
That dignity: complete lack of fear. She passed the beauty of that on to me.
She slipped very quickly.
We raced to complete our wordless conversation.
Her look, her hands' steady gentle-tight grip. (one I know I gave her, as a babe)
The single tear of goodbye as she slipped away.
