in memory of all of us

Not long after my mother died, I closed up our home and began traveling -- the journey continues, even as I sit in my front porch living room garden this beautiful morning -- it was early in my quest for purpose that I found these words of Steve Jobs that continue to inspire: "Almost everything--all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure--these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose.
You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart."

artist...young

"He had not died but he had faded out like a film in the sun. He had been lost or had wandered out of existence for he no longer existed. How strange to think of him passing out of existence in such a way, not by death, but by fading out in the sun or by being lost and forgotten somewhere in the universe!"
--James Joyce, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

Patrons of Art

Sara Anderson (we work together at Parrot Key Resort) purchased a number of my images as gifts for family -- she chose this one for herself and placed in a simple black frame -- nice, Sara!

Isle of Wight

I'd like to visit The Isle of Wight
and sit in the Channel for a while --
[share some breath with kindred creatures
and contemplate the miles --]
Winged to flight,
where exactly is "too high"?
And when will the wax
begin to melt?
Ah! Then hurled to sea
by gravity --
My square one.
In the Channel I'll sit again for a while
and contemplate the miles.

a little over a year ago...

Mikaloguer: Key West schlogs along: Key West is beginning to and will continue to prosper in the midst of the oil spill insanity - well, unless a hurricane comes along and blow...

Storm front: preliminary strike...Good luck, Islands, may we take it gracefully
